I am wondering if 2FM voice sounds of my SY77 could be exported via sysex and RETRO-CONVERTED to yield 2 DX7 single FM voice SYSEX files ?
I admit, this may sound a bit odd - especially given that AFM will not be 1:1 the same compared to DX7.
Still FM sounds based on the same or essentially same algorithms should be close enough to be reproducible in DX7 (with obvious parameter range 128 -> 64 adaptations, missing feedback loops etc.).
After all, I am trying to import these DX7 sysex into modern synths which are frequently accepting DX7/FM sysex voices but have no compatibility to date for AFM/SY77 or 99 files.
The idea would be to load the single FM voice sysex files and join them up again. Hope that makes sense.
So any hint towards conversion software, editors or strategies would be much appreciated.
